PA Yeast SC-1
Product overview
Yeast is able to make carbon dioxide and alcohol from sugar, and this microbial action has long been used in the manufacture of many different fermented foods, such as bread, miso, and beer. Nisshin Pharma has focused on the nutritional properties of yeast, and PA Yeast SC-1 is a special yeast material for nutritional enhancement produced through the synergy of the Nisshin Seifun Group.
Overview of ingredients
PA Yeast SC-1 has a 0.06% standardized content of polyamines, which are known to induce autophagy, the self-degradation of unneeded components within cells. Polyamines are amino acids with multiple amino groups (NH2 groups), and they include putrescine, spermidine, and spermine. Polyamines are essential for cell growth, and they are abundant in tissues with rapid cell replacement such as skin, intestines, sperm, and blood. PA Yeast SC-1 has a very distinctive nutrient composition, with approximately 30% dietary fiber and 50% protein, as well as trace quantities of vitamin B1, vitamin B2, niacin, vitamin B6, folic acid, pantothenic acid, biotin, potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and copper.
Characteristics of product
Appropriate source of nutrients
PA Yeast SC-1 is a natural source of dietary fiber, which often does not meet the intake level specified in the Dietary Reference Intakes for Japanese (2018), and high-quality protein (amino acid score 100), which is recommended for increased intake by the elderly.
Source of many nutrients
The use of PA Yeast SC-1 allows the development of nutrient-rich foods without the need for food additives. It is especially suitable for the development of multi-nutrient products such as supplements and nutritionally balanced snacks.

Derived from baker’s yeast, a reliable source
Yeast has been used in food manufacture since ancient times. PA Yeast SC-1 is produced from the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which is used in the production of bread and beer and is particularly reliable in terms of food experience and safety.
Types of yeast
- Tudding yeast(Saccharomyces cerevisiae)
This yeast feeds on sugars and produces ethanol and carbon dioxide. It is carbon dioxide that forms the bubbles that make bread rise. This yeast can grow even when the ethanol concentration increases, and it is used to make beer and wine. - Fission yeast(Schizosaccharomyces pombe)
This yeast has a longer history as a material for genetic research than as a commercial food. It is isolated from the surface of fruits, and it has been used to make bread and alcoholic beverages. - Torula yeast(Cyberlindnera jadinii)
This microorganism was originally used for pulp processing, and its conversion to use in foods was first studied in Germany during World War II. It was first used for animal feed, and when its safety was confirmed, it was used as a raw material for health foods. However, there is less experience with the use of this yeast than of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
Domestic production for peace of mind
